Blending elements of grindcore, death metallic element, black alloy, hard-core, and bluesy, groove-oriented Southern rock, Lousiana quintette Soilent Green has fully grown into one of the nigh distinctive bands in the U.S. alloy metro. Along with coevals such as Eyehategod, Crowbar, and Acid Bath, they have helped frame their nursing dwelling house state on the admixture map, meanwhile gift it a report for spawning exceptionally sludgy and pain-ridden bands. Soilent Green sure lives up to these adjectives, only they theatrical role qualities with a variety of other bands -- from complex, anger-fueled hard-core groups such as Coalesce and Dillinger Escape Plan to unmixed grindcore powerhouses Brutal Truth and Napalm Death and, less obviously, melodic channel surfers Mr. Bungle and Naked City. The ring in the first place formed in 1988 about a card that included guitarists Brian Patton and Donovan Punch and drummer Tommy Buckley, only it took several years for their card to solidify. (To farther complicate matters, Patton took a gig with Eyehategod in the early '90s, a commitment that has played a part in slowing Soilent Green's end product over the years.) At any charge per unit, bassist Scott Williams conjugate in 1992, spell vocaliser Louis Benjamin Falgoust II came onboard a yr later. Using this card, they released their low gear album, Pussysoul, for Dwell Records in 1995. Subsequent touring lED them on the road with Pantera, Extreme Noise Terror, and A.C.

With their future release, they made the jump to Relapse Records, releasing the mini-CD A String of Lies in 1998. Their second full-length, Sewn Mouth Secrets, followed on Relapse that same class and, even more than the CD A String of Lies, marked a suppurate step frontward for the band, with Falgoust's vocals in particular sounding practically more convincing in their delivery. Around this prison term, a Rolling Stone magazine article named them among the "ten about significant intemperate and cloggy bands right at present." After touring for Sewn Mouth Secrets, Patton returned to make with Eyehategod, while Falgoust recorded an album with the smutty metallic element isthmus Goatwhore.

In 1999, guitarist Punch unexpectedly announced his decision to retire from music, and Ben Stout, one of Falgoust's bandmates in Goatwhore, was recruited to fill up in his slot. With this new card inviolate, the reexamination to Sewn Mouth, entitled A Deleted Symphony for the Beaten Down, was recorded in 2000 and scheduled for spill in the summer of 2001.
